Day-to-day Itinerary

Day 1: MAUMERE ARRIVAL - MONI (-/ -/ D). Up on arrival at Frans Seda airport of Maumere Flores Island, our local guide will meet you then transfer to Bunaken restaurant at harbor for lunch. Depart to Moni, a touristy village where almost every back packers base their trip to Kelimutu. The journey to Moni is 96 kilometers (3.5 hours by driving) passing through beautiful coastal and mountain villages and gorgeous landscapes. On the way stops at Ledalero - a major Catholic Seminary - to visit the Blikon Blewut Museum with its various collections of local royal families' old portraits, antique hand woven clothes, fossils of stegedont (=giant elephant), etc. and at Jopu traditional village to see tall thatch roofing house of Lio tribe and their beautiful hand woven ikat textiles. Opportunity for snap-shop along the journey will follow with the local happenings. Late afternoon arrive at Moni and check in at Hotel Flores Sare for dinner and stay overnight.

Day 2: MONI - KELIMUTU - ENDE - RIUNG (B/ L/ D). At 04:15 drive and hiking up to Kelimutu - the inexplicably three colored crater lakes (Brown, turquoise and Black). After exploring the lakes we hike and driving down to parking area. From here we trekking down through new open trail while watching birds and listening to the natural voices. Back to vehicle driving down till former Forestry Conservation Post then follow another trekking trail passing through beautiful villages and waterfalls till we reach the Trans Flores High way and continue to Riung via the capital city of Ende regency. Stops on the way to visit Nduaria, a beautifully set up at road side fruit and vegetables market, Wolotopo & Ngalupolo villages where traditional houses are set on terraces and ancestral shrine is kept on the highest point of it—beautiful surroundings completed by the open Indian ocean view, Museum Bung Karno to see the house and various collections of Indonesia’s late President Ir. Soekarno when he was exiled in Ende in 1934–1938. Lunch serves at Istana Bamboo restaurant. Continue to Riung on the north of Bajawa with more stops to visit Penggajawa, a beautiful blue rocks filled beach. Short walking and snap shop would be made according to local happenings. Dinner and stay overnight at Pondok SVD Missionary Guest House in Riung.

Day 3: RIUNG - BAJAWA (B/ L/ D). Half day marine excursion to the “17 Islands National Park” of Riung, snorkeling or swimming in the clear crystal water, sunbathing on beautiful white sandy beach and watching bats hanging on the mangrove trees—sometimes it flies around when hearing the noisy from motor engine. Picnic lunch box serves on the island’s beautiful beach. Around 1 o’clock in the afternoon heading back to Pondok SVD, get prepare and continue to Bajawa town in the middle of the region. Before arriving to Bajawa, soak up into warm spring at Soa, quite an experience in water runs down in cascades. Dinner serves at Lucas restaurant and stay overnight at Hotel Bintang Wisata.

Day 4: BAJAWA - RUTENG - LABUAN BAJO (B/ L/ D). Early morning drive and trek up to Wolobobo, an open view hill top spot to watch the most magnificent Golden Sunrise. Return to hotel for breakfast. Drive down to Luba and Bena, the two different “living museum” traditional villages. Here you will see NGADHU, BHAGA and PEO that symbolizes male and female ancestors and tens of traditional houses of Bajawa tribe. Megalithic altars, men-hirs, cult houses are the most beautiful Flores traditional village. Return to Flores high way and heading onto Ruteng and Labuan Bajo. Stops en-route to see local wine making center, known to locals as ‘arak’ distillation at Aimere, at Ranamese’s tranguil surrounding take a relaxing walks, and at Cara village to see ‘lingko’, a spider-web like rice field. The scenic landscapes along the journey from east to west of Flores are very gorgeous. Lunch serves at Merlyn restaurant in Ruteng. Stay overnight at Hotel Golo Hill-Top or similar.

Day 5: LABUAN BAJO - DEPARTURE (B/ -/ -). Drive up to Mirror Cave (=Gua Batu Cermin) to see stalactites and stalagmites then return to hotel. After lunch drive to Komodo airport for your flight to next destination. Our service ends!
