Trekking Overview

TREKKING TIWUSORATO MURUSOBE TWIN WATERFALLS - NEW 2010. DISCOVERED RECENTLY by Swisscontact & Sikka’s Tourism Association- (According to Swisscontact: this place is much more beautiful than Switzerland)

Drive, trek and ride on horseback through beautiful coastline, un-spoilt inland villages, huge rain forests and mountain landscapes, spectacular wide green expanses savannah that filled with hundreds of half wild-breeding buffaloes, horses and caws, refreshing rinse in natural springs, mountain lake Tiwu Sora--the home of three colored giant eels, twin waterfalls, to enjoy magnificent golden sunset and sunrise and so much more. And in the night interact and share experience with Adat Leader and his communities, eat local food and sleep overnight at villager’s house. And still, the next day snorkel or swimming in clear crystal water of Pantai Koka and lunch provided with Special “Ikan Bakar” (Grilled Fish). 


Day-to-day Itinerary

Day 1: MAUMERE - ARRIVAL (-/ -/ D). Upon arrival at Frans Seda airport of Maumere - Flores, our local guide will meet you and transfer to hotel for your accommodation. Dinner and stay overnight at Wailiti Beach Resort or Hotel Sylvia.

Day 2: MAUMERE - PISE - DETURIA (B/ L/ D). At 8:00 am leave for Pise village with stops at selected view points for making photo of spectacular coastline and mountain panorama. Pay a visit to Pise primary school--a chance to interact and observe how the basic academic life in remote area looks like. Start trekking from here to Deturia village with more stops to see and feed salt to buffaloes, making pictures of horses and caws spreading over wide expanse green savannah. Refreshing rinse in natural spring and breathing fresh air of rainforests. At night in Deturia interact and share experience with Adat Leader, eat local dinner and sleep overnight at villager’s house.

Day 3: DETURIA - TIWUSORA - MURUSOBE - DETUKATO (B/ L/ D). At 1,400 meters in height, Deturia offers a cool refuge from the warmer temperatures on the coast. This mountain trek leads through rainforests and an ever-changing array of vegetation specific to each altitude. Early morning trekking uphill to Mbotu Sora to have a spectacular view over Flores sea, Tiwusora lake, Kelimutu and its mate mountain Kelibara at far distance and the magnificent golden sunrise. Trek down to Tiwusora lake and see the home of three colored giant eels by closer distance—local people believed to it as ancestors. Walk below the rainforests without making noise then you could watch birds and listening them singing beautiful rhythm. Mind your step from leaches suck your blood. Return to Deturia village. After breakfast take a walk around the village and let yourself be treated by friendly locals. Continue trekking downhill to Detukato village and to Murusobe to see a 100 meters in height Twin waterfalls and refreshing rinse in natural swimming pool. Simple local dinner and sleep overnight at villager’s house in Detukato village.

Day 4: DETUKATO - POMA - PANTAI KOKA - MAUMERE (B/ L/ D). Simple breakfast in the village, ride on horseback or by wooden truck to Feondari then by car to Pantai Koka beach. Our way down to Feondari offers beautiful landscapes as far as Paga beach and Indian Ocean Lunch at Laris sea view restaurant in Paga, provided with Special “Ikan Bakar” (Grilled Fish). Heading to Pantai Koka and opportunity for you to swim, snorkeling or just lay down on white sandy beach. Around 4:00 pm return to Maumere. Dinner and stay overnight at Wailiti Beach Resort or Hotel Sylvia.

Day 5: MAUMERE - DEPARTURE (B/ -/ -). Transfer to Frans Seda airport for your flight to next destination. Our service ends!
