Trekking Overview

Drive, trek and ride on horseback through the most spectacular coastline, un-spoilt inland villages, huge rain forests and mountain landscapes, wide green expanses savannah that filled with hundreds of half bred buffaloes, horses and caws, refreshing rinse in natural springs, mountain lake Tiwu Sora—the home of three colored giant eels, twin waterfalls, to enjoy magnificent golden sunset and sunrise and so much more. And in the night interact and share experience with Adat Leader and his communities, eat local food and sleep overnight at villager’s house. Next day trip last at Kajuwulu beach where you can snorkel or swimming in clear crystal water or just lay down on white sandy beach. Lunch provided with Special “Ikan Bakar” (Grilled Fish). Note: Traditional Barter Market at Deturia Opens Every Wednesday from 8am to 12noon.
Day-to-day Trekking Itinerary
Day 1: MAUMERE - ARRIVAL (-/ -/ D). Upon arrival at Frans Seda airport of Maumere - Flores, our local guide will meet you and transfer to hotel for your accommodation. Dinner and stay overnight at Wailiti Beach Resort or Hotel Sylvia.
Day 2: MAUMERE - PISE - DETURIA (B/ L/ D). At 7:00 am drive to Pise village with stops at selected view points for making picture of spectacular coastline and mountain panorama. Pay a visit to Pise Primary School--a chance to observe how the basic academic life in remote area looks like and interactive with teacher and students. Start trekking from here to Deturia village with more stops for seeing and feeding salt to half bred buffaloes, making pictures of horses and caws that spread all over the wide expanse green savannah, rain forests and refreshing rinse in natural springs. In the night having cultural talks with Adat Leader, eat local dinner and sleep overnight at villager’s house.
Day 3: DETURIA - TIWUSORA - SOKONAJA - PISE - KAJUWULU - MAUMERE (BLD). Early morning trekking to Mbotusora hilltop to get a spectacular view over Flores sea, Tiwusora lake, Kelimutu & its mate mountain Kelibara at far distance & the magnificent golden sunrise. Trek down to Tiwusora lake and see the home of three type colored giant eels by closer distance—local people believed to this lake eels as ancestors. If you could walk below the rainforests to the lake without making noise you may watch birds and listening them sing beautiful rhythm. Mind your step from blood sucker leaches. Return to Deturia village. After breakfast take a walk around the village and let yourself be treated by friendly locals. Ride on horseback to Pise passing through Lokaoja, Serosipi and Sokonaja villages—beautiful landscapes. Arrive at Pise, get on the car and drive down to Tiwu Bou coastal lake—explore surrounding villages. Continue to Kajuwulu, having lunch with Special “Ikan Bakar” (Grilled Fish) and chance for you to swim or snorkeling in clear crystal water or just lay down on white sandy beach. Late afternoon return to your base in Maumere. Dinner and stay overnight at Wailiti Beach Resort or Hotel Sylvia.
Day 4: MAUMERE - DEPARTURE (B/ -/ -). Transfer to Wai Oti airport for your flight to next destination. Our service ends!
